Great starter vibe for beginners. Great back-up vibe for toy connoisseurs.

I love luxury vibes, but someone starting out needs quality options at a lower price point. I would never recommend a beginner use a poor quality or low powered option, as it might put them off sex toys forever. The Bottle Rocket line by Evolved is a great choice for beginners. I've culled most of the cheap toys from my collection, but Apollo is still in my naughty drawer because I still use it. It's a great value, and I think highly of it.

Review: Durex Play Utopia (sold as Durex Play O in the UK)

From the moment I first started using Durex Utopia, I decided I would not be without it, no matter how much it cost me. At the time, I didn't know how long that tiny bottle would last, but hoped to get 3 months out of it. That it has lasted so much longer is a happy bonus for me, and I consider it worth every penny. The main downside of it is that it doesn't work for every woman, and there's really no way to know if it will be amazing for you or not until you try.

Durex Utopia is an amazing product in a tiny bottle. The secret ingredient is L-Arginine, which relaxes the blood vessels and increases the blood flow. I have a small, tucked away clit, so anything I can do to encourage it to come out and play is a good thing. I like to put on a dab of Utopia, and then use a nipple sucker just over the clit. The combination is almost enough to make me come by itself!

The bottle is small - please make sure you check the 'actual product size' before you buy! You don't want to expect something large. However, a little goes a long way. I am not at all stingy with my use of it. I pretty much use it 2-3 times a week, slathering it over my labia and clit, reapplying whenever I feel the urge, and it has lasted 8 months so far. It's getting close to the bottom of the bottle, but I expect at least a month's more of orgasms out of it.

The way it feels for me, is that it makes my clit and labia more sensitive and more engorged with blood. It can act as a short cut if I'm not particularly in the mood, to go from 0 to 'do me now!' in a quick time. If I'm already in the mood, then it just makes everything better.

That being said, it really does not work for everyone. This is a product that will work with your body or it won't. I don't know enough about the mechanisms to say, but my completely uninformed guess is that for some people, their clits are relaxed enough already and the L-Arginine is just not going to do much. So keep in mind that this product may simply not work for you.

But if it does... oh boy! It's amazing when it does! For me it makes clitoral orgasms faster, harder, and longer. I find it especially ideal during toy sex, with a pinpoint vibe. With intercourse or G-spot toys, the sensations are too diffuse for it to really be noticed as much. If you like to use a vibe on your clit during intercourse, you may find this an exciting add on.

I would not recommend using it in the bath or shower, as it would likely wash away. I did a taste test (For SCIENCE!) and found that it has no real flavor, but it does make the tongue tingly. It could be fun to try during cunnilingus, if your partner doesn't mind the tongue sensations.

One warning I would like to add, in addition to checking the ingredients for anything you are allergic or sensitive to: Please do a tiny patch test on your inner labia before using it too generously, just in case it burns. This should probably be a warning for any product that goes near your sensitive bits, such as lube or shaving gel, but particularly for orgasm aids, since their sensation enhancing ingredients can be actively painful to some women. I have never heard of Durex Utopia doing this to someone, as it isn't one of the products that contains capsaicin, but it's far better to be safe when it comes to your clitoris.

Personal Experience

My boyfriend loves the possibilities of this for BDSM play, as having me aroused and unable to do anything about it is one of our favourite games. Putting on a bit of gel, and then getting dressed to go out for dinner, for example, is quite a tease, and means that I'm already hot even before he starts whispering naughty things to me. I also found it helpful during a phase where a prescription drug was causing me to have trouble getting aroused.

Overall, my favourite use of this is for quickie masturbation sessions with a clit vibe. When I'm not into getting out the insertable toys, and just want something I can be done with quickly in ten minutes, Utopia and a pinpoint clit vibe is all I need. When I travelled to spend time with my parents for a few weeks for a visit, I was able to discreetly use the Mia vibe and the Durex Utopia for quickie sessions with no one the wiser. The bottle went through airport security without so much as a raised eyebrow, and the Utopia gel made my sessions fast enough that I never had to worry about someone knocking on my door at a really awkward time.
